All photographs submitted must be taken in North Carolina within the past 3 years and reflect aviation in North Carolina. Only the photographer is allowed to submit his or her photograph.
All submitted photographs should be 300 dpi 8.5 inches by 11 inches in JPEG format.
A Certificate of Authenticity must be submitted with photographs prior to the deadline. This is to verify the photograph was taken by the individual submitting the entry. The Certificate of Authenticity form can be found below. If a model or models are present in your submission then a model consent / release form must be complete by the model. A Model Consent / Release form can be found below.
Once received, all entries will become and remain the properties of NCDOT Division of Aviation and may be used for a verity of purposes. The photographer and anyone in the photo must complete the following form found below.

Eligibility
All children who live in and/or attend school in North Carolina and in the age groups show below are encouraged to participate. Children who related to officials and employees of NCDOT are also eligible to participate.
Age Groups
Entries will be judged in three classes determined by the age of the entrant on December 31, 2008.
- Ages 6 to 9
- Ages 10 to 13
- Ages 14 to 17
Deadline for Entry
All entries must be postmarked no later than November 1st, 2008.

Awards
All artwork that has met the rules of the art contest will be judged and 4 pieces of artwork from each age group will be selected to appear in the 2009 North Carolina Aviation Calendar. Of the 12 pieces of artwork chosen for the one will be selected as first place and be noted in the calendar.
Format
Artwork size shall be 11 x 17 inches only. 8.5 x 11 inch entries or any other size will not be accepted as they are not eligible for the contest. Artwork must not be framed, mounted, or outlined with borders. The artist's name should not appear on the front of the artwork.
Medium
All artwork must be hand made using any of the following media: Watercolor, acrylic or oil paint, indelible markers, colored pencils, felt-tip markers, ball point pens, indelible pen and ink, crayon, or similar indelible media.
The following will NOT be accepted: Pencil, charcoal or other non-permanent medium, computer generated art, or collages using photographs, digital images, clipart, or photocopies.
Certification
A parent, guardian, or art teacher must certify the authenticity of the artwork and the age of each artist. The Certificate of Authenticity form must be completed and mailed with the artwork. You can find the form below.
Reproduction Rights
Once received, all entries will become and remain the properties of NCDOT Division of Aviation and may be used for a variety of purposes.
