Margaret “Randy” Barnes has 30 years of management and technical experience in private business, consulting and public sector organizations. She has spent the past 11 years as Chief Information Officer for the N.C. Department of Revenue, where she was responsible for overseeing the strategic and day-to-day operations of information technology functions. Randy spent nearly four years as the Information Integration Manager for the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and has worked for GTE, UNISYS, Carolina Power and Light Company (Progress Energy) and the N.C. Department of Justice.
As the CIO, Barnes will be responsible for overseeing the department’s information technology functions, including enterprise services, IT administration, the business systems information portal support center, the Division of Motor Vehicles computer systems and all engineering transportation systems.
Randy is a graduate of N.C. State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and a Master of Science degree in management. She is certified as a state chief information officer.
