William C. Gore Jr. - Commissioner of Motor Vehicles

Appointed Commissioner of Motor Vehicles on August 10, 2007, William Gore oversees daily operations for the 1,600-member Division of Motor Vehicles. Its operations include issuing driver licenses, vehicle registrations, and safety and emissions inspections. Prior to joining the Division, Gore was retired Senior Resident Superior Court Judge for Bladen and Columbus counties. He has also served as a chief District Court judge, an assistant district attorney and a private practice lawyer. During 2006, Gore was a candidate for the North Carolina Supreme Court. He received his undergraduate degree from UNC at Chapel Hill and earned his juris doctorate cum laude from N.C. Central University School of Law.
