Welcome to North Carolina!

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that AASHTO's Annual Subcommittee on Materials (SOM) meeting will be held in scenic Asheville, North Carolina on August 3-8, 2008. We are excited to be hosting this event and look forward to making your visit to North Carolina a memorable one.

Dress for the conference is casual. Daytime temperatures in August are normally in the 70's, but a light jacket or sweater may be desired in the evenings. The average high temperature for Asheville in August is 72 degrees F, but can vary from the 60's to the 80's, and temperatures can get down to the 40's during that time of year.
