Operating a motorcycle on the streets and highways of North Carolina is a special privilege accompanied by special responsibility.

I urge you to become aware of all the laws governing the operation of your vehicle. Whether or not you have to experience riding and driving motorcycles, you must make a continuing commitment to learn new rules and obey new laws as they are enacted. These laws are for your own protection and the protection of others on our roadways.

North Carolina's Motorcyclists' Handbook is a compilation of information you need to know before operating your motorcycle on our highways. The handbook gives you many safe driving techniques and tips and discusses motor vehicle law in depth. Studying this book thoroughly and applying the outlined practices for safe vehicle operation will help you obtain your motorcycle endorsement.
