Leased Vehicles: Title/Registered

Vehicles that are being leased are titled in the name of the lessor. The plate may be issued to either the lessor or lessee depending on who carries the liability insurance coverage. If the license plate is to be issued in the name of the lessee, the lessor and lessee must sign an MVR-330 form. The MVR-330 lists the length of the lease, the owner of the vehicle (lessor), the operator of the vehicle (lessee) and the certification of liability insurance signed by the lessee.

Vehicles leased for less than one year are subject to a For-Hire license. Vehicles leased by a farmer and used exclusively for farm use may be issued a farm license plate upon completion of MVR-330 and MVR-9 (Farmer Affidavit).
