Objective
The implementation of Geopak Graphical Criteria has several purposes.
Summary
Geopak Graphical Criteria (GGC) is a relatively new concept from our traditional NCDOT Criteria practice. Our current Criteria input is heavily dependent on the definitions of variables in ASCII Criteria input text file. With GGC, most of the variable definitions can be stored as Geopak Adhoc Attributes as graphical Microstation elements in a DGN file. These elements with the attached Adhocs can be placed in a DGN file through the RD_GGC.DDB D&C Manager.
Once placed, Criteria will extract the Adhoc Attribute values attached to each plan view element. The Adhoc values are then used to process Criteria. Adhoc Attributes have default values. These default values can be changed or "user redefinable" before or after the plan view graphical element is placed through the GGC D&C Manager.
Defining Adhocs Before D&C Placement
and the are checked on, . Adhoc values can be changed before placing the item in a design file.
Step 1.
First, select the D&C Manager Design mode.
Step 2.
Double click on the D&C Manager item.
Step 3.
Check on Place Influence and Adhoc Attributes.
Step 4.
After the Adhoc Attribute dialog box displayed with the default values, change
the values if desired.
Step 5.
Lastly, place the element with the attached Adhoc Attributes in the DGN file.
Changing Adhocs After D&C Placement
Adhoc values can be changed after the element has been placed in the design file with the following two methods.
NOTE:
The difference between the two methods is when Place Influence is checked on
and the D&C Manager Set Mode method is used, then the element level is also
changed to what is set in D&C Manager for that item. Changing Adhoc values
with 3PC Adhoc Attribute Manager will only change the Adhoc values and not the
element level.
Procedure 1- D&C Manager Set Mode
Step 1.
First, while selecting the D&C item, change the D&C Manager mode to
Set.
Step 2.
An Adhoc Attribute popup dialog box is automatically displayed with the last
values stored. To load the default values, click on the Reload Adhoc Attributes
icon.
Step 3.
Switch Attach Mode to Replace and click on the Set button.
Step 4.
Lastly, select the element to replace the Adhoc Attributes with.
Procedure 2- 3PC Adhoc Attribute Manager
Step 1.
First, click on the 3PC Adhoc Attribute Manager tool.
Step 2.
Under the Adhoc Attribute Manager dialog box, click on Identify Element
and select the element with the Adhoc attributes.
Step 3.
Once the Adhoc Attributes are displayed, enter the new values.
Step 4.
Lastly, click on the Set Attributes button and select the element to
change the Adhoc values.
Viewing Adhoc Attributes
Adhoc Attributes can be viewed with the Geopak Application Attribute Viewer. Note that this tool can also be used to view other Geopak element attributes such the horizontal and vertical alignment information and Geopak shapes.

Future support for Adhoc Attribute Display will also be provided with predetermine search criteria CSV.

D&C Adhoc Attribute On-the-Fly Help
On-the-Fly Adhoc Attribute Help will be developed and supported in the next version of Geopak.
Geopak Graphical Criteria
Below is a list of Criteria which uses the new Geopak Graphical Criteria feature. Click on the links for further details and to see how they are being incorporated with our current Criteria.
Shear Lines - At Intersections
Automatic Pavement Surface Extension
Shoulders (paved and total usable)
Median Ditch Tapers Approaching Structures and Underpasses
Guardrail R-R-R Projects
Concrete Walls
Gore Areas - Resolving Side Slopes
Drainage Ditches

User Defined Variables
"GEOPAK GRAPHICAL CRITERIA FILE"New!
Define the DGN file which contains the graphical plan view element.
If GGC DGN file is located in a separate folder from the XSC file being processed, then define the full path with the name of the GGC DGN file, e.g. R:\Roadway\Proj\R2812_RDY_GGC.DGN.
EXAMPLE:
DEFINE "GEOPAK GRAPHICAL CRITERIA FILE" R2812_RDY_GGC.DGN
