Standard Slope Criteria

Overview

Standard Slope Criteria is that criteria which is used for drawing the typical cut ditches and backslopes, and fill slopes from the shoulder point.

There are currently three types of standard slope criteria; for local, arterial and freeway designs levels. All three types of standard slope criteria provide for variable, fixed cut and fill slopes and the option of using DEFINE_DGN elements for slope catch point location. This criteria also provides several methods of setting cut ditch points; including the use of special ditch grades.

All standard slope criteria must be used in conjunction with shoulder criteria. Once the criteria has established that a section is in fill, the shoulder is widened to the defined fill width. If the fill slope value and height warrant, the criteria will automatically widen the fill shoulder for guardrail.

Interchange design was a major consideration during the development of this criteria library. All standard slope criteria (as well as clsp criteria) offer several features to aid in interchange design.
