Professional Development Hours Request Form
The Professional Development Hour (PDH) Process for Technical Training Courses:

Much of the technical training developed and taught by our own employees has gone unreported and therefore undocumented by Training and Development (T & D). The process described below, if followed, will allow courses taught repeatedly to be tracked in the participants "NCDOT Training Profile". One-time workshops & seminars will not be tracked in the training profile.

It has been and will remain the responsibility of the registrant to track their own PDHs as required by the Board of Registration for their particular profession. Registrants may determine their own PDH value for a particular training session or workshop they have attended and may report that to the Board. Documentation of the claimed PDH value may be necessary if audited by the Board.

NCDOT, as a sponsor of PDH courses for the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors, provides information to the Board on a regular basis about the courses and who took them. This information however, is not a substitute for the annual information required of each registrant for license renewal. NCDOT provides documentation of PDH's granted for all courses to the course presenter/organizer in advance, if the process outlined below is completed. The course presenter/organizer is responsible for sending a copy of the roster upon completion of course which includes course title, instructor, date presented, approved PDH's, participants name, and registration number to Sandy Nance.

If you are developing or organizing a new technical course or you are hosting a workshop or seminar or annual meeting and would like the participants to have a record of the PDH's available for the course, please complete the process below. A letter confirming the number of PDH's assigned to the course and course number (if applicable) will be sent to you before the course is held. A copy of this letter should be provided to each course participant requiring PDH's.

  1. Fill out the Professional Development Hours Request Form.
  2. If you already have a detailed course outline (MS Word Document) fax, mail, or e-mail to:
    Sandy Nance
    Fax: 919-733-9428

  3. If no PDH credit is being sought for the new course, send a detailed course outline including a time schedule and a copy of the course handouts directly to Maxine Russell at Training and Development and note that you only want a course number, one will be assigned.
  4. If the course has a number, please remind the participants to have this course entered into their training profile by their training coordinator. If the course has associated PDH's they will appear on their the training profile.
