RE: 1999 / 2000 IHC S-2500 Dump trucks

It has come to our attention that on the new TANDEM dumps that there may be a potential problem for a brass snubber screw in the pressure gauge to become loose.  When this occurs it will be caught in the return filter or could lodge in the dump body valve causing the bed not to stop going up or coming down.  This has occurred in 3 identifiable cases thus far, and would warrant corrective measures.  The manufacture of the gauges has supplied snubber valves to prevent and or trap the loose snubber screw.  Please follow the steps below to take corrective action.

1.)   Remove the gauge from the hydraulic valve manifold, apply paste type thread compound to the gauge threads.  Then install snubber valve and tighten securely.

2.)   Reinstall gauge.

A description of the snubber screw is that it is about the size of a grain of rice, threaded, brass, with a flat screwdriver slot on one end.  It has a minute hole drilled through the center.
