Bridge Maintenance
The Division Two Bridge Maintenance Unit is responsible for the maintenance and construction of bridges, drainage structures, culverts, and pipes in the eight counties which compose Division Two. The Division Bridge Maintenance Engineer is responsible for coordinating the activities of four local Bridge Maintenance Offices managed by a Bridge Transportation Supervisor at each location.
Duties include maintaining drainage structures, roadway bridges, navigational flow on International Waterways, permits, and providing assistance to other state and local agencies. Other responsibilities include, managing other mishaps, damages, and accidents as well as catastrophic events such as flooding, snow and ice storms, and other hazards that arise which produce an unsafe condition to the traveling public. Activities involve operation and maintenance of both Bascule and Swing Span Draw Bridges, and upon request, performs maintenance of the Ferry System.
