(Roadside Environmental Unit / REU)
The Roadside Environmental Unit implements landscape operations in the Division by managing a comprehensive vegetation management program consisting of seeding, mulching, herbicide spraying, planting, and plant maintenance while meeting applicable laws and regulations regarding erosion sedimentation control, and pesticide applications. Other operations include, maintaining the Wildflower Program, supervising contract mowing of the eight counties in the Division, supervising Rest Area Maintenance contracts, and supervising contract planting projects. The Roadside Environmental Unit strives to provide a high level of service to the traveling public of North Carolina and promotes safety among employees and the public.
