How should Densities be entered?

With the rollout of Version 6.1 in September of 2006, a change was made to how densities are entered. Embankment and Subgrade densities are entered based on the material used to construct the embankment or subgrade.

In order to enter the Density, the correct material must be present on the Contract Bill of Materials (CBOM).

The Material Type and Materials used for Densities are:

Material Type
Material Description
Earthwork Excavations - Borrow
Borrow Excavation
Embankment from Unclassifed
Unclassified Excavation
Subgrade
Field Density - Subgrade - Aggregate Stabilized
Subgrade
Field Density - Subgrade - Cement Treated
Subgrade
Field Density - Subgrade - Lime Stabilized
Subgrade
Field Density - Subgrade - Unstabilized

Here's how to enter an Embankment Density in HiCAMS:

  1. Confirm that the correct material is present on the Contract BOM.

  2. Open the Review Density Other Conventional window and select either Borrow Excavation or Unclassified Excavation from the drop down list.

  3. Enter the Embankment Density and Save.

Here's how to enter an Subgrade Density in HiCAMS:

  1. Confirm that the correct material is present on the Contract BOM.

  2. Open the Review Density Other Conventional window and select the Subgrade material from the drop down list.

  3. Enter the Subgrade Density and Save.
