How should a Material Received Report for Precast Concrete Units be entered?
This FAQ last updated May 1, 2007
Minimum Sampling Guide information for Material Type Precast Concrete Units .
- This Material Type is received on a Material Received Report (MRR).
- It has a Project Certification Criticality of Critical.
- The Precast Concrete Units must be Pretested and Alternate IDs must be entered. The Alternate IDs do not need to match a Field Inspection Report for the Accepted Quantity to update.
- The Precast Concrete Units should be stamped "NC DOT Approved".
Where is the Alternate ID found on a Precast Concrete Unit?
Since January, 2007, Precast Concrete manufacturers have been required to paint or sticker each piece with the plant's ID number, the date of manufacture, and the piece number. For example, a precast drainage structure that was the 15th piece poured on January 12, 2007 at plant PC1 would be marked PC1-011207-15
- This information must be on the inside of the unit, and may also be on the outside, at the manufacturer's discretion. It must also be listed on the Bill of Lading.
- NCDOT inspectors will continue to stamp the pipe with NC.
Here's how to enter a Material Received Report for a precast Concrete Unit in HiCAMS:
- Go to the Review Materials Receipts window. (Functions > Contract Tracking > Review Material Receipts) On the Review Material Receipts window, enter/select your contract number, and select the Line Item for which the precast unit is being used.
- Create a New MRR by doing an Insert.
- Enter the MRR Nbr, Date, Line Item Number, Material, Received Quantity, Received By, and Plant ID in the new row. If you do not know the plant ID, click on the Approved Producer/Supplier icon on the General tab in the lower portion of the window, and select your producer from the list.
- Click in the Alternate ID tab, and then click the Insert button. A new row will appear in the "Alternate ID" portion of the window. The Alternate ID field will pre-populate with the plant id you entered and a hyphen, for instance, PC1-.
- Enter an Alternate ID type of Piece.
- Complete the Alternate ID field with the production date of the Precast Unit, a hyphen, and then the piece number of the item being entered on the MRR. The completed Alternate ID will look like this: PC1-011207-15.
- Repeat the insert steps to link additional Piece numbers to this MRR.
- Save the Record.
By entering the Piece numbers with the MRR, the Accepted Quantity will update in the Project Certification records.
