Review Field Inspection Reports

Version 8.0 Changes

• CONCRETE PIPE, CORRUGATED METAL PIPE, GUARDRAIL, PRECAST CONCRETE and PRESTRESSED CONCRETE:

  • Modified the windows to prevent Unauthorization of the FIR if any Alt ID on the FIR is marked as In Use.

  • The Alt ID Status of In Use is now system controlled based on linking to MRR's and the Alt ID Status will be protected whenever the system marks an Alt ID as "In Use".

  • Modified the windows to allow access/update to the data on the Alt ID tab even if the FIR has been Authorized. Changes to any of the data will still be subject to the usual edits the system performs and will only be accepted if all edits pass.

  • Added the Alt ID Quantity and Alt ID Available Quantity fields to the Report tab and to the printed report.

• GUARDRAIL: Corrected a problem with the Word Wrap function that caused the application to crash.

• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Modified the window to restrict Load Live End and Load Dead End fields to a maximum of 6 digits.

Version 7.2.1 Changes

• The Alternate ID tab grids have been enhanced to include Quantity and Available Quantity fields on the following FIR report types:
  • Concrete Pipe
  • Corrugated Metal Pipe
  • Guardrail
  • Precast Concrete
  • Prestressed Concrete

  The changes all facilitate calculating/tracking accepted quantity in the Project Certification/Audit Materials module via entry of MRR’s that reference FIR Alternate IDs for material type versions requiring Alt ID linking on MSG.

• A large data conversion was done on the Alt ID data in an attempt to align existing data with current business rules and practices. History records are being created to provide an audit trail of data that was impacted by the conversion.

• A slight description change was made for existing Alternate IDs of type Girder to allow for the data conversion, MRR linking, and Alternate ID quantity assignments. The old type of “Girder” has been expired and replaced by a new type called “Girders” (plural).

• CONCRETE PIPE: On the Alt IDs tab, added a Quantity field and Available Quantity field to the Alt ID grid. If Alternate IDs are specified, a quantity per Alternate ID must now be entered. The system will track the Available Quantity remaining as MRR’s are entered and reference the Alternate ID on a FIR if the MSG settings for the material’s material type version are set to require the linking. The sum of the quantities entered on Alternate IDs for a selected material must equal the Accepted Quantity on the Results tab of the FIR for the same material.

• CORRUGATED METAL PIPE: On the Alt IDs tab, added a Quantity field and Available Quantity field to the Alt ID grid. If Alternate IDs are specified, a quantity per Alternate ID must now be entered. The system will track the Available Quantity remaining as MRR’s are entered and reference the Alternate ID on a FIR if the MSG settings for the material’s material type version are set to require the linking. The sum of the quantities entered on Alternate IDs for a selected material must equal the Accepted Quantity on the Results tab of the FIR for the same material.

• GUARDRAIL: On the Alt IDs tab, created separate Alt ID grids for materials from the Pay Item tab and for materials from the Hardware tab. In both cases, added a Quantity field and Available Quantity field to the Alt ID grid. If Alternate IDs are specified, a quantity per Alternate ID must now be entered. The system will track the Available Quantity remaining as MRR’s are entered and reference the Alternate ID on a FIR if the MSG settings for the material’s material type version are set to require the linking. The sum of the quantities entered on Alternate IDs for a selected material must equal the Accepted Quantity on the Results tab of the FIR for the same material.

• GUARDRAIL: Any existing Alternate IDs on Guardrail FIRS that were designated as type Girder have been converted to type Heat.

• PRECAST CONCRETE: On the Alt IDs tab, added a Quantity field and Available Quantity field to the Alt ID grid. If Alternate IDs are specified, a quantity per Alternate ID must now be entered. The system will track the Available Quantity remaining as MRR’s are entered and reference the Alternate ID on a FIR if the MSG settings for the material’s material type version are set to require the linking. The sum of the quantities entered on Alternate IDs for a selected material must equal the Accepted Quantity on the Results tab of the FIR for the same material.

• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: On the Alt IDs tab, added a Quantity field and Available Quantity field to the Alt ID grid. If Alternate IDs are specified, a quantity per Alternate ID must now be entered. Version 7.2 Changes

• GUARDRAIL: Added Accepted and Rejected quantity fields to the Hardware tab and in the Hardware section of the report. In a future release, the system will be enhanced to use the data in these fields in Project Certification/Audit Materials.

• PRECAST CONCRETE: Modified system logic to automatically set the Alternate ID status to Rejected for those associated to a Precast Concrete FIR that is authorized as Does Not Meet Specs - Rejected. If the inspection result changed from DNMS-Rejected to any other status, all associated Alternate IDs in a Rejected status will be updated to Available status.

• STAY IN PLACE FORMS: Added the Unit of Measure description to the Accepted and Rejected Quantity fields on the General tab. The values entered on this tab are for the selected material, so the unit of measure description shown will be that of the selected material, not the line item unit of measure description.

• STRUCTURAL STEEL: Replaced the Quantity field with Accepted and Rejected quantity fields on the Hardware tab and in the Hardware section of the report. The existing quantity data was converted to the new Accepted and Rejected quantity fields based on the Pass/Fail value for each record. In a future release, the system will be enhanced to use the data in these fields in Project Certification/Audit Materials.

• STRUCTURAL STEEL: Added the Unit of Measure description to the Accepted and Rejected Quantity fields on the General tab. The values entered on this tab are for the selected material, so the unit of measure description shown will be that of the selected material, not the line item unit of measure description.

Version 7.1.2 Changes

• If “Save As” or “New” functions are selected for a Section Code that is expired, that section code will not be carried forward to the new record. A new, unexpired section code must be selected on the new FIR record.

• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Corrected a problem that caused the material to change after tabbing out of the field. This had caused several residual problems in the data entry process.

Version 7.1.1 Changes

• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Adjusted the logic to recalculate the Cylinder Compressive Strengths and Average Compressive Strengths whenever changes are made to the material or material type. This ensures accurate data computations even if the material is changed from an English to a Metric material or vice versa.
• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Enhanced the Save As functionality to carry forward the Inspector value on the SPECS tab if one was present on the source record.
• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Enhanced the system to re-validate the Material expiration and Concrete Mix Design expiration to ensure they comply with the FIR Inspection Date. This helps prevent potential data integrity problems resulting from records created via Save As functionality.
• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Corrected a problem that occasionally left the Delete and Delete All buttons available on the SPECS tab when they shouldn’t be.
• STAY-IN-PLACE: Expanded the Dimension field on the Results tab from 20 characters to 40 characters.

Version 7.1 Changes

• Section Code 7&9 has been split into Section 7, belonging to Division 7 and Section 9, belonging to Division 9. Existing FIR records that were originally coded using Section 7&9 will remain with that value, but the combined Section 7&9 value can’t be chosen on new records going forward. Facilities previously in Section 7&9 have been converted to the appropriate new section based on the Division stored on the record.
• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Added Save As functionality to the main selection window and from within the detail for a selected Prestressed FIR record.

Version 7.0.1 Changes

• PRECAST CONCRETE: Expanded the Concrete Class dropdown selection choices in the Select Concrete Mixes pop-up window to include Precast Self Consolidating.
• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Expanded the Concrete Class dropdown selection choices in the Select Concrete Mixes pop-up window to include Precast Self Consolidating.

Version 6.4 Changes

• PRECAST CONCRETE: Added an edit to ensure the selected/entered concrete mix design is for a concrete class that matches the concrete class of the material being inspected.
• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Added an edit to ensure the selected/entered concrete mix design is for a concrete class that matches the concrete class of the material being inspected.

Version 6.3 Changes

• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: The Slump field has been expanded to allow a maximum value of 999.99. The previous maximum value allowed had been 9.99.

Version 6.2.1 Changes

• PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: Corrected the application to use the proper Prestressed Concrete Rating Limits.

Version 6.2 Changes

• CORRUGATED METAL PIPE: Restored functionality to automatically set the Disposition Accepted Quantity when the Material Accepted Quantity is greater than zero and the Rejected Quantity is equal to zero. Changes to the Material Accepted Quantity prior to FIR Authorization will adjust the Disposition Accepted Quantity accordingly and reset the Disposition Pay Adjusted Quantity and Disposition Removed Quantity to zero.
• New for Version 6.2 PRESTRESSED CONCRETE: A new field inspection report has been created to handle prestressed material inspections. Please contact the Prestressed Concrete Engineer or Materials Operations Engineer for additional information regarding when and how to use the new module.

Version 6.1 Changes

• Removed Pre-HiCAMS Active and Pre-HiCAMS Complete status contracts from the Contract Selection pop-up window.
• The Find & Sort features have been corrected to match the appropriate fields available across the various reports, and word wrap has been added where applicable and possible.
• REVIEW CONCRETE PAVEMENT: The window has been modified to require the value entered in Required Strength to be greater than 0.
• REVIEW CONCRETE PAVEMENT: The window now enforces the business rule that requires the selected Concrete Mix Design to be from a ready-mix plant for matches the selected Producer.
• CONCRETE PIPE: The dropdown field for Laying Length has been expanded to include a value of 120.
• GUARDRAIL: Added word wrap for columns Material Type, Material, and Zinc Test Status.
• STAY-IN-PLACE: The window has been modified to have the dropdown for Gage only contain choices that pertain to the contract’s measurement system (i.e., English or Metric). This applies on initial entry and if a report is unauthorized for changes/corrections.
• STRUCTURAL STEEL: The window has been modified to correct the spelling of the column label “Magnetic Particle”

Version 6.0.1 Changes

• STRUCTURAL STEEL: Prioritized Security Tags so that "FIR Super user" takes precedence over "FIR Complete by Inspector" tag.
• STRUCTURAL STEEL: Expanded the Dimension field on Hardware Tab to accommodate 30 characters so a select error does not occur when you click on the report tab.

Version 6.0 Changes

• CONCRETE PIPE: The window was modified to correct a problem where the value in the Laying Length field was being moved to the Accepted column in the Results tab in certain instances.
• PRECAST CONCRETE: The window was enhanced to default the inspection results to "In Process" when A ‘Save As’ or ‘New’ action is performed.

Version 5.8 Changes

• STAY-IN-PLACE: A correction has been made to the Results tab to display the Gage drop down lists on existing reports.
• STRUCTURAL STEEL: A correction has been made to the Pay Items tab of the Structural Steel report window to prompt the user to complete all required girder information prior to saving the record.

Version 5.7 Changes

• A correction has been made to the Alternate ID functionality on all FIRs. Additional filters have been placed on this field to prevent duplicate Alternate Ids from being used.
• GUARDRAIL: A correction has been made when entering a new report. Previously, a database error displayed when the report was
• STRUCTURAL STEEL: The Report functionality has been enhanced to copy the previous row’s information into a newly inserted row on the Pay Items and Hardware tabs. This will allow new records to be entered more quickly and efficiently.
• STRUCTURAL STEEL: The Report functionality has been enhanced to filter the material selection list based upon the Material Type selected. This will help prevent invalid Material Type/Material combinations.

Version 5.6 Changes

• Updated the zinc coating range table to allow the spec-min and spec-max values to hold up to 99,999.99 rather than 9,999.99.

• A Disposition Comment is now required when the overall Inspection Result for the Report has been set to either "Pay Adjustment - Does Not Meet Specs" or "Rejected - Does Not Meet Specs" and the Disposition Accepted Quantity is greater than zero.

• The dates on Alternate Ids for all materials except Guardrail will default as mmddyy instead of mm/dd/yy.

Version 5.3 Changes

• CONCRETE PIPE, CORRUGATED METAL PIPE, GUARDRAIL, AND PRECAST CONCRETE: If the FIR has an Alternate ID defined and the FIR is voided, the Alternate ID Status will automatically be changed to VOID.
• PRECAST CONCRETE: The Alternate Type and ID fields are now protected when that Alternate ID row has been linked to an MRR. The FIR window now functions the same as the Sample Details window.
• STRUCTURAL STEEL: Multiple changes have been made to this window including the following:

• The window now sorts the Pay Item and Hardware information by Description and Piece. The Girder information has been modified to display the Component before the Heat Number and to sort in that order.
• The problem of not being able to save multiple Pay Items and Girder information due to a database error has been corrected. Now if a user attempts to choose a new Pay Item without first entering all of the Girder information for the current Pay Item, an error message will appear.
• The Location field is no longer a required entry field.
• The Fabricator is now a required field.
• The Piece field on the Pay Items and Hardware Tabs have been updated to allow the entry of up to twenty characters.
• The Camber field has been updated to allow the entry of up to eight characters. Please note that this is an editable dropdown field, which means that the arrow can be used to select one of the fields in the list OR data can be typed into this field. Because of this, when a user enters the letter 'P', for example, the field will not automatically select Pass from the dropdown since the system assumes that you wanted to enter just a 'P'.
• The report layout has been modified to correctly display the Description, Camber, Fabricator, and County code fields. The Hardware information is now available at the bottom of the report. Additionally, the placement of the Component and Heat information has been moved to appear on the same line as the Description and other information. To accommodate this change, the Cover Plates and Weld Size fields have been removed from the display. The report is now sorted in ascending order by Description and Piece.

Version 5.2 Changes

• REVIEW CONCRETE PAVEMENT: Corrected wording of notifications sent to RE/ARE when Core thickness updated.
• CONCRETE PIPE: Updated the report to display asterisks on the paper copy to match the asterisks that are displayed on the windows.
• CORRUGATED METAL PIPE: The Search by Plant ID is now available for use and will find the Producer information without requesting that a Material Type be selected first.

New for Version 5.0

• The Field Inspection Report module allows entry and handling of field test data into the HiCAMS application. For applicable materials, the module allows updating of accepted quantities and printing of reports.
• The Review Field Inspection Reports window will allow authorized users to create new Field Inspection Reports of any type, as well as review existing reports. These report types include, Concrete Pipe, Metal Pipe, Guardrail, Precast Concrete, Stay-In-Place Metal Frames, and Structural Steel.
