| This
is a reminder that under the 1993 NCDOT Traffic Signal Specifications
(Section 17.8 & NCTSS–TYP–10) and the soon to be implemented 2002
Standards Specifications for Roads and Structures (Section-1725), there
are requirements for the installation of inductive detection loops.
Deviation from the specification, such as the use of "backer rods" as part of the loop sealant, can result in increased maintenance cost and reduced service life. Inspection and testing of inductive detection loops should be performed in accordance with all applicable specifications. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Benny Johnson at (919) 733-5071 or e-mail bjohnson3@dot.state.nc.us. |
