This site contains information about the various materials typically purchased by the Vegetation Management Section of the Roadside
Environmental Unit for use by State Forces. Depending upon the item, contracts may be issued annually or on an as needed basis. Refer to the sample contracts contained in each section for specific details.
The Vegetation Management Section obtains bids for various materials used by Division field personnel. Primary inventory items include:
Each of the fourteen Divisions submit a 6-month advanced purchase recommendation. The Vegetation Management Section then prepares bids for statewide quantities. This method enables the Department to obtain cost savings through bulk purchases.
Contracts to purchase other materials such as ornamentol plants, may be solicited on a statewide basis or by individual Divisions. These materials
may be issued annually or on an as needed basis, whichever is in the best interest of the state.
Some of the bid packages include labor, materials and application equipment.
Materials such as mulch or lime are often contract applied.
Many of the materials and tools utilized by Roadside Environmental crews are
specialized. The Vegetation Management Section is responsible for researching and field testing new products and materials that are used by Division forces. Some of these specialty items are stocked in the central units inventory and are available for transfer to the Divisions.
