The Materials and Tests Unit's Chemical Testing Laboratory strives to provide quality services to the Department of Transportation, other state agencies, municipalities and producers/suppliers that conduct business with the state of North Carolina in the areas of testing (chemical, environmental, and physical), inspection (including coatings, corrosion, asphalt, and others), specifications, technical expertise, innovation and research. These functions insure the highest quality materials and products as well as installation and application techniques are used in the construction of North Carolina's roads and structures.
