The Materials and Tests Unit, Structural Members, (Metals) has developed and is offering a one day field Welding Inspection Class. The Class is structured for Residents, Assistant Resident Engineers, Project Inspectors, and Engineering Construction Inspectors who oversee the welding of H-Pile, Pipe Pile, Soldier Pile, Stay in Place Form Plates and etc. We will focus on the use of proper electrodes, storage, preheat, mechanical burning and basic visual inspection of welds with Flashlights, Weld Gages, Temperature Indicating Crayons and Inspection Mirrors that are provided. A Certificate will be issued upon successful completion.

Three Class Dates are Scheduled at this time as follows:

• Course Fee: $150.00 (non-refundable) for a private applicant send a check payable to "NCDOT - Materials & Tests Unit." Companies may send one total check if sending multiple people.
