The data collected by this equipment is being integrated
into the Pavement Management System (PMS) in order to better evaluate the
condition of the state's road network.
The training area of this sub-unit consists primarily of
three area Pavement Coordinators who provide assistance
for construction and maintenance personnel. The coordinators will train field
personnel in the use of the PMS as well as retrieving pavement distress information
to incorporate into the PMS. These coordinators also introduce new maintenance
products, equipment and techniques to the field offices. The coordinators
work closely with field maintenance engineers in an effort to more accurately
determine repair costs necessary to support funding needs from the legislature.
This sub-unit is headed by Jerry Blackwelder with the assistance
of a Technical Support Engineer, David Stanley.
