Parkway to East of SR 1361, Near Deep Gap. This contract included chipped tire
material in structural fills, recycled plastic fence posts, recycled plastic guardrail
offset blocks, and recycled plastic corrugated pipe for shoulder and edge drains.
8.T671005, U-209C, Mecklenburg County. US 74 Independence Blvd. from Brookshire Freeway
to Briar Creek in Charlotte. This contract included chipped tire material in structural fills,
recycled plastic corrugated pipe and fittings, recycled plastic guardrail offset blocks, and
crack sealant containing recycled tire crumb rubber. The contractor submitted a proposal in
accordance with the Recycled Products or Solid Waste Materials Provision to utilize bottom ash
as backfill in lieu of borrow and #57 stone to fill the two back to back single face barriers.
This realized a cost savings of $4,496.15.
8.2250101, U-0092D, New Hanover County. Wilmington, Smith Creek Parkway
from NC 132 to US 74. Recycled ABC manufactured from crushed concrete demolition debris was
used on this project.
8.U670121, R -211EB, Mecklenburg County. Charlotte Outer Loop from SR
1009 to Interchange US 74. This contract included chipped tire material in structural
fills, recycled plastic drainage pipe, and recycled plastic fence post.
8.1301001, I-2004, Halifax County. New Interchange on I-95 at NC 125, South
of Roanoke Rapids. Cost comparison for the items used in this project are listed
in Attachment 1-C.
