The Design Build group administers the Department's Design Build Program and, in concert with the Design Build Executive
Committee, is authorized to contract up to 25 design build projects annually. The Department is utilizing the design
build concept to expedite project delivery and streamline design processes.
Design Build allows the Department to contract a team that consists of both designers and a contractor to simultaneously
design and construct the project. Projects can be let sooner and completed faster using this approach. This process also
involves a two-stage evaluation process which consists of shortlisting contractors and evaluating proposed designs. The Design
Build Group is comprised of Engineers from a variety of disciplines to efficiently develop contracts, review plans,
and ensure the use of equitable evaluation criteria.
