The Geotechnical Engineering Unit of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is pleased to host the 2008 Highway Geophysics - NDE Conference. The conference will be held on December 1-4, 2008 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Conference Vision

This conference seeks to enhance the quality, efficiency and safety of transportation systems by expanding knowledge and understanding of the state-of-practice and state-of-the-art use of geophysical and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technologies. In exchanging the most recent information about geophysical and NDE methodologies, participants will gain a better understanding of their applications and limitations, maximizing their benefits, enhancing engineering practice, reducing costs and improving safety.

Conference Objectives

  • To exchange information on applied geophysical and NDE methodologies applicable to transportation facilities and infrastructure.
  • To promote the routine and appropriate use of geophysical and NDE methodologies to highway agencies.
  • To improve the practice of geophysical and NDE methodologies through the interaction of geophysicists and practitioners, and their respective knowledge.

Who should Attend

The conference is intended to provide a stimulating forum for engineers, geophysicists, geologists, program managers, and other decision makers regarding application of geophysical and NDE methodologies to transportation facilities and infrastructure.
