The TRB Committee for Waste Management in Transportation promotes the transportation industry's evolution
from a solid and hazardous waste remediation and management approach to a waste minimization approach
through the development and integration of proactive environmental management systems (including
sustainability concepts) into transportation programs.
Who Should Attend?
The Environmental Stewardship in Transportation Conference is aimed at groups and individuals involved
in environmentally sound planning, design, construction, maintenance and management of transportation
facilities. Transportation and environmental engineers, managers, suppliers, manufacturers, consultants
and contractors who wish to reinforce their respective skills and services related to the latest
technologies and practices in "green" transportation operations related to the above topics will
benefit from the conference's agenda.
What is the Transportation Research Board?
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is a division of the National Academies, which include the
National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National
Research Council. The mission of TRB is to promote innovation and progress in transportation through
research. In an objective and interdisciplinary setting, the Board facilitates the sharing of
information on transportation practice and policy by researchers and practitioners; stimulates
research and offers research management services that promote technical excellence; provides expert
advice on transportation policy and programs; and disseminates research results broadly and encourages
their implementation.
