NCDOT Guidelines and Standards
Drive Mapping - The drive must be mapped to the individual TIP Project. For example r: must be mapped to "TIP#". In Windows Explorer, it would show up at "TIP#" on [servername] (R:)". Please take a look at what this should look like in Windows Explorer when I map to a TIP project. I am mapping a drive (R:), to a shared TIP (r2000AA) on our server (Ets-ccfs03).

Deed Draft-ROWCheck - Deed Draft is no longer required. NCDOT Right-of-Way Unit uses Deed Draft to compute areas. The Right-of-Way Area data sheet is also no longer required. Property lines and easements must tie in correctly. To make sure there are no CADD errors when closing easements, please use ROWCheck.ma found in Roadway workspace. NCDOT will use will also use this .ma to check your work before submitting your files to Right-of-Way. Plans with errors will be sent back if property and easement lines don't tie in correctly!
FolderCreator - This is a batch file that creates a TIP folder template in your C:\Temp directory that matches the folder stucture shown above. It does not set permissions and should be renamed to the TIP number you are starting to work on.
Map Drive - MapDive is an inhouse application that can be used to automatically connect to a TIP folder through the any drive. For more information on this application, click here.
Folders - Any standard subfolders that exist upon creation of the TIP folder will remain. They are not to be deleted, even when unused.
File Names - A standard file name convention has been established by the CADD Uniformity Task Force and must be adhered to. Please go to File Naming Conventions to learn more aout these names.
Cogo Point Numbers - A standard point numbering scheme has been adapted by the CADD Uniformity Task Force. See GPK Point Numbers for details.
File Transfer - All files can be transfered to NCDOT via CD or FTS. The NCDOT File Transfer System is a web-based application that allows you to transfer very large file attachments to other users from your web browser. FTS has automatic compression technology that will allow you to transfer one gigabyte or more with just a few clicks. You will find this site located at FTS.

If you are outside NCDOT, an account will have to be created for you by someone within the Department before you will be able to access the use of this service. Do not use FTP site unless necessary and never use the TIPDATA folder!!! The information on there is not being deleted and can be old and obsolete!
