Creating New TIP Folders


If you need a new TIP project added to the server, simply fill out the Roadway Request Form, TIP File and Project Utilities. After the TIP project folder has been created on the server,  a Roadway Support Specialist will contact you so that you can add the TIP to your MapDrive.

All new TIP #'s added to the server will have a set directory structure of the NCDOT Unit's folders. Below is the standard folder structure for Roadway Design.

  • Dtm
  • Estimate
  • Func
  • HearingMaps
  • IFiles
  • Inp
  • Pictures (for storage of digital cam pix)
  • Proj
  • Shp
  • Wedging
  • Xsc

All GPK files will be stored in the GPK directory.  This will allow ALL users (including those outside of Roadway)  to set the Geopak preferences to R:\GPK and you will never have to change the path again!
 

Additional "TIP" Designations
  • Functional projects are now given a TIP # resembling SWP0000  (SWP=State Wide Planning).
  • Special Projects are now PS0000.  This is the "Catch-All" category.
  • Feasibilty Studies have TIP # resembling FS0000.
