| SUBJECT: | BACKWALL CLEARANCE |
To accommodate greater tolerance in girder length allowed by the 2002 Standard Specifications, the minimum clear distance between the backwall and the end of the girder shall be increased from 2" to 3". This increase applies to steel beams/girders as well as prestressed concrete girders.
This policy shall be effective with all new plans prepared. The Design Manual will be revised at a later date.
