The following Special Provisions are to be written on a project by project basis.
Removal of Existing Structure (When DOT wants salvage material or special removal.)


FOOTNOTES
1. Use this Special Provision when ADTT > 500.
2. Use this Special Provision and "Sand Seal" when ADTT < 500.
3. Use "Securing of Vessels" on projects with navigable waterways.
4. When using "Pot Bearings","Optional Disc Bearings", "Expansion Joint Seals", "Modular Expansion Joint Seals" or "Strip Seals", also include "Thermal Sprayed Coatings (Metallization)". Also include "Thermal Sprayed Coatings (Metallization)" and "Elastomeric Concrete" when using armored joints for"Evazote Joint Seals" or "Optional Preformed Compression Joint Seals".
5. Use "Minimizing Railroad Flagging Service" on projects with construction activity on or adjacent to the railroad right-of-way.
6. Use "Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert at Station ________" only when plans are detailed for precast culverts. Use "Optional Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert at Station ________" when plans are detailed for cast-in-place culverts.
7. Review and coordinate the use of "MSE Retaining Walls" with the Geotechnical Engineering Unit before making final the plans for each project.
8. Use these Special Provisions on all projects.
9. Use "Metric Structural Steel" on all metric projects with prestressed girder and steel girder superstructures.
10. Use "Bridge Deck Rideability and Grooving at Station _________" when the length of the bridge deck exceeds 1500 feet (460m).
11. Use "Unclassified Structure Excavation at Station _______" when the estimated quantity per structure is less than 500 yd3 (380m3).
12. Use "Charpy V-Notch Tests" on projects with horizontally curved girders.
13. When using "Drilled Piers", also include "Crosshole Sonic Logging".
14. Use "Prestressed Concrete Piles" with all projects with prestressed concrete piles..
15. Use these Special Provisions with all Lump Sum projects. When drilled piers are used, include the applicable pay items in PSP 64, paragraph one, sentence two (in the list of pay items to be excluded): Drilled piers, permanent steel casings, SID inspection, crosshole sonic logging and CSL Tubes.
16. Use "Painting Structural Steel" when painting non-weathering structural steel.
17. Use "Fabricated Metal SIP Forms" on all projects with prestressed girder superstructures with SIP forms, or steel girder superstructures where concrete is excluded from the SIP form valleys.
