Mission Statement

We perform archaeological surveys and archival research on a variety of highway projects. This work ranges from field surveys of proposed highway projects, to writing background research evaluations of alternative study corridors, to performing test excavations to determine if individual archaeological sites are eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. NCDOT contracts with private firms and universities to perform more extensive archaeological excavations of sites within highway corridors.
