Public Involvement and Community Studies
The Public Involvement staff is responsible for scheduling Informational Workshops and Public Hearings so the public can have an active role in the location and design features of a transportation project. Community Studies is responsible for the early identification of community issues and developing strategies to resolve problems. This unit also assists in developing mitigation packages to offset project impacts to communities. The staff evaluates social, economic, and land use impacts of proposed transportation projects. Public Involvement and Community Studies staff also provides guidance to all DOT staff regarding environment justice issues.
