The Historic Architecture group also has the responsibility of advising NCDOT and the general public about the national, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern highway construction and maintenance. Members of the Historic Architecture group also actively participate in the numerous organizations, committees, and groups dedicated to the study and preservation of historic architecture and landscape architecture, as well as organizations promoting responsible transportation and community planning.
