SECTION 1403

HIGH MOUNT LUMINAIRES

1403-1 DESCRIPTION.

The work covered by this section consists of furnishing and installing luminaires for high mount standards 75' and greater in height.

1403-2 MATERIALS.

The luminaire shall consist of a die cast aluminum ballast housing a cast aluminum slipfitter housing, and cover. They shall not weigh more than 65 lbs. and shall have an effective projected area not more than 2.0 square feet.

The ballast shall be capable of operating a 1000 watt high pressure sodium lamp from a source with a nominal voltage as shown on the plans with a tolerance of 10%.

The slipfitter housing shall be suitable for use with 2 inch horizontal pipe mounting, shall be adjustable for leveling, and shall secure the mounting assembly to prevent twisting of the luminaire about the bracket.

The optical assembly shall contain a porcelain enclosed mogul socket with spring loaded center contact and lamp grips and shall have an insulated outboard lamp grip to protect the lamp from damage due to vibration. The socket shall be positioned for base up lamps.

Lighting patterns shall be symmetrical or asymmetrical as shown on the plans.

Complete photometric, assembly, and electrical data shall be provided for each type luminaire proposed. The data shall include candlepower distribution and isofootcandle graphs, assembly drawings with replacement part numbers, and electrical schematic with ballast input/output voltage/amperage/wattage ratings.

1403-3 CONSTRUCTION METHODS.

All high mount fixtures shall be lamped just prior to testing the system. The date of installation shall be marked with the code on the base of each lamp.

Each luminaire shall be leveled and secured in all directions. Careful attention should be given to aim the main beams and house-side outputs of all asymmetrical units in the direction indicated on the plans. The wiring for each luminaire shall be securely terminated and shall include an equipment grounding conductor to bond the housing to the supply cord grounding conductor.

1403-4 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT.

The quantity of luminaires for high mount lighting standards to be paid for will be the actual number of luminaires of each size and type which have been installed and accepted.

The quantities of luminaires, measured as provided above, will be paid for at the contract unit price each for "High Mount Luminaires _____" of the appropriate wattage and type. Such price and payment will be full compensation for all work of furnishing and installing lamps and ballasts.

Payment will be made under:
