The original study area for the project was bordered on the south by S.C. Route 9, on the east by US 17, and on the west by S-57/State Road 1303 (Hickman Road). The study area has now been expanded as a result of the public information workshops to examine additional corridors in North Carolina. The study area in North Carolina now extends to approximately 3 miles north of US 17 on the north, to NC 904 (Longwood Road) on east, and to approximately 1.5 miles south of US 17 on the south. The new study area is shown below.
