The study area includes the segment of NC 73 from I-85 in Concord-Kannapolis with US 321 in Lincolnton. It is one of two east-west highways serving rapidly growing communities in the North Carolina Piedmont. The study area spans Cabarrus, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg Counties.
