Halifax County
Comprehensive Transportation Plan Study
In 2008, the
NCDOT Transportation Planning Branch began a
Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) study
for Halifax County. This study is intended to
produce a long range planning document that will
assist local governments and its representatives
in making transportation decisions in the next
25-30 years. The plan is a joint effort between
Halifax County, Peanut Belt Rural Planning
Organization (RPO), and NCDOT.
In February 2008, a joint CTP committee for both
the Halifax County CTP and Northampton County
CTP was formed, comprising of individuals with
interest in representing both counties and their
need for an improved transportation system.
This committee is composed of representatives
from Halifax and Northampton Counties, each
municipality in both counties, NCDOT, and Peanut
Belt RPO.
Currently the committee is working on finalizing
Roadway Deficiencies and is getting ready to
analyze results from the Goals and Objectives
Survey that was gathered in July 2009.
The next
meeting will be on Wednesday December 2, 2009 at
10am. The meeting will be held in its usual
location, at the J. Reuben Daniel City Hall &
Police Station, located at 1040 Roanoke Avenue
in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
