A Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) study is being developed for the rural area of Orange County outside the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro (DCHC) MPO. This study is intended to produce a long range planning document that will assist local governments and its representatives in making transportation decisions in the next 25-30 years. This plan is a joint effort between Orange County, the Orange Unified Transportation Board (OUTBoard), the Triangle Area RPO, the DCHC MPO, and NCDOT.
The DCHC MPO is also developing a CTP for their area, which includes the towns of Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. The Orange County study is coordinating with the DCHC study to follow the same development timeline, in order to produce a unified and coordinated plan for all of Orange County.
Next CTP Committee Meeting: October 21 (time TBD) in the Food Lab of the Planning and Agriculture Building, 306 Revere Road, Hillsborough. Currently, the committee is working on the following:
- Finalizing a Modeled Roadways Network (see DRAFT below)
- Collecting road network data
