The 2006 Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures will be the governing specification over traffic signal equipment beginning with the July 2006 letting. All signal and traffic management systems equipment, material, and hardware submitted for use on these projects must be pre-approved and on the 2006 Qualified Products List by the day of installation. Equipment, materials, and hardware not on the 2006 QPL will not be allowed for use on these projects unless otherwise called for by the Project Special Provisions over that project.
The Signals and Intelligent Transportation Systems Material section (Section 1098 of Materials - Division 10 ) and the Signals and Intelligent Transportation Systems Construction Methods section (Division 17) of the 2006 Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures can be viewed at the link above. A copy of the latest TMSSU Special Provisions can be downloaded from the Special Provisions link above. Users should be aware that the Special Provisions are specifications in addition to the 2006 Standard Specifications and may be updated monthly. You should download a new copy every month to ensure that you are using the most up-to-date specification.
