UpdateWS Users Guide
Download UpdateWS Program in .zip format
Instructions for use:
- Select workspace name(s) to download.
- Click Update button.

The UpdateWS application accesses an NCDOT FTP server and downloads the file structure of the workspaces on that server. It then looks at the local workspace directories on your machine and tells you if there are differences in them by placing a green checkmark (3
) beside it if it is up to date, or a red exclamation point (!) if it is not up to date. If you select a workspace that is up to date, and click the Update button, it will not do anything. If you select a workspace that is not up to date and click the Update button, the application will download all files that are not up to date. The first time you run it, it may take a while as it downloads all of the files it needs. Subsequent downloads will be minimal and only downloads the files that it needs. (Please note that the program will delete any "orphaned" or not needed files in the workspace directories. So please store any "files unique to your environment in a separate location.)
NOTE: If the NCDOT environment variables are not set up on your machine, the program will tell you and then exit. If these environment variables are set up to point to a mapped or network drive, this program will write to those drives (write access permitting.) Additionally you must run the UpdateWS application outside of MicroStation in other words MicroStation can’t be running while you are using UpdateWS.
