About NCDOT GIS OUR MISSION
WHO WE ARE
The Data Conversion Group is responsible for updating the statewide road line work, the Linear Referencing System, and several other datasets in the interest of NCDOT and other state government agencies. The group also works with other government agencies to improve data quality in order to help them better maintain their respective datasets. The Spatial Data Management Group is responsible for designing and maintaining spatial database systems that support GIS analysis and application development. Spatial Data Management inventories and disseminates spatial datasets, as well as performing quality assurance on and providing access to the datasets. The Spatial Applications Development Group provides GIS-based application development services to NCDOT. Through the design, development, and implementation of custom GIS tools and applications, the group provides access to data and functionality to help NCDOT make sound decisions. The Spatial Analysis Group provides GIS analysis and specialized data generation services to NCDOT. Through use of spatial technology software the group performs in-depth analysis to help NCDOT build and maintain statewide road systems. The group works directly with customers to determine project requirements, but also takes the lead in researching useful data generation methods to enhance current and future NCDOT projects.
