NCDOT's goal is to deliver our transportation program while preserving and enhancing the natural and human environment. We are better able to meet the needs of our customers through incorporating the elements of environmental stewardship and environmental streamlining into our day-to-day activities. In recent years, the department has taken enormous strides in building and maintaining North Carolina's transportation system while protecting and enhancing the human and natural environment. In continuation and support of this effort, NCDOT's Office of Environmental Quality (OEQ) serves as an internal consultant that helps to coordinate, facilitate, and promote the department's environmental stewardship and streamlining initiatives.
