| Selects Hearings Committees
- Employee Relations Committee Hearings
(Same for Reduction In Force Hearings)
The Human Resources Director or designee has the responsibility to appoint an Employee Relations Committee. The names of the proposed committee members must be submitted to the grievant within 15 calendar days prior to the date of the hearing. To challenge a committee member's ability to render an impartial recommendation, a written request must be submitted to the Hearings Office 7 calendar days prior to the scheduled date of the hearing. A Hearings Officer will then select a replacement, if justified.
The makeup of an Employee Relations Committee consists of the five DOT employees listed below:
- Chairperson
- Employee from a DOT Administrative Staff Unit (excluding Human Resources)
- Employee from the Division of Motor Vehicles
- Employee from the Division of Highways
- Employee with the same basic occupational classification.
- Performance Management Review Hearings
The Human Resources Director or designee has the responsibility to appoint grievance committees to review performance evaluations and pay dispute matters. The grieving employee will be notified in writing of the identity of the 5 DOT committee members at least 15 calendar days prior to the hearing date. Two members must be non-supervisory employees. The grieving employee may disqualify up to 2 members of the initial committee. To disqualify a person, a written request must be received by the Hearings Office at least 7 calendar days prior to the date of the hearing. If the request is not received within this time frame, the grievance committee will be considered acceptable.
