About Classification & Compensation
 

The Classification & Compensation Section administers the classification system for over 14,000 positions located statewide. Services are provided to all of DOT, which includes the Division of Motor Vehicles and the Governor's Highway Safety Program.

Other responsibilities are:

  • Record, evaluate and process individual position classification actions.
  • Conduct work unit, organizational and classification studies for positions within DOT.
  • Participate in statewide occupational studies initiated by the Office of State Personnel.
  • Update, revise, and distribute organizational charts which serve as a useful management tool in determining current and accurate organizational staffing patterns.
  • Provide consultation to DOT supervisors and managers relative to their classification and compensation needs (i.e., redesign of position responsibilities, organizational restructuring, etc.)
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and administration of Career-banding efforts and associated skill and competency based pay programs.
  • Evaluate requests for in-range salary adjustments based on job change.
