About Training and Development

The Training and Development Section (TDS) provides quality leadership, managerial, technical, and human resource training to the employees of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. These TDS services allow all levels of personnel to improve their interpersonal, leadership, managerial skills, and their technical proficiency and thus serve the people of North Carolina more efficiently.

We accomplish this by providing training that fully complies with mandatory federal and state educational requirements and is within currently accepted adult education principles and guidelines.

Further, TDS will provide training services to all DOT managers, supervisors and employees including:

  • course delivery/coordination;
  • course and program evaluation;
  • organizational development consultation.
DOT will provide reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids and services for any qualified disabled person interested in attending DOT training programs. Please call the Training and Development Section at (919) 662-3582 to request accommodations for a disability. Keep in mind that we will need sufficient time to make adequate arrangements toward a request.
