When an employee identifies a class he or she is interested in
attending, he/she must request their supervisor's approval to enroll
in the class. The supervisor will notify the Division/Section Training
Coordinator of the class request. The Training Coordinator will
notify Training and Development by e-mailing dot_training@dot.state.nc.us
to enroll the employee in the class.
The Training Coordinator is responsible for enrolling an employee
for a course when the Training Coordinator receives an e-mail "FYI".
The "FYI" is forwarded to the Training Coordinator when the employee
signs up on line at the Training and Development website. The Training
Coordinator must then ensure that permission has been received from
the employee's supervisor before notifying Training and Development
that an employee would like to attend a class.
If space is available in the class requested, T&D will enroll
the employee in the class and the Training Coordinator will be notified
that the employee has been enrolled.
Employee Notification of Class Registration
At the time of enrollment, the Training Coordinator will receive
an email from T&D stating whether or not the employee has been
enrolled. The employee will not receive any notification at this
time from Training & Development.
One week prior to a class, Training & Development will send
e-mail reminders to each employee who is enrolled stating the class
name, time, & location of the class. The Training Coordinator
will receive a copy of this e-mail.
It is important that employees attend the classes in which they
are enrolled. Many classes fill up quickly and there is a waiting
list for a seat to open. If employees realize they will be unable
to attend a class, T & D should be notified as soon as possible.
