Traffic Incident Management is a coordinated and planned approach for responding to incidents when they occur on the freeway systems. It involves the systematic use of human and mechanical processes for detecting, responding to, and clearing incidents. It is important to note that incident management is a separate metropolitan component of an integrated regional transportation system. It is very often implemented with freeway management systems.
