NCDOT: Division of Aviation, Aeronautics Council

The NC Aeronautics Council was established under North Carolina General Statute Chapter 143B and is the state's aviation advisory board. The statute requires a 15-member board with one member from each of North Carolina's 13 U.S. Congressional districts and two at-large members. The Council is to advise the Secretary of Transportation in the issuance of aviation loans and grants and other matters the Secretary may refer to them. At least four of the members must "possess a broad knowledge of aviation and airport development." All members have some aviation background either in civil or military aviation, airport matters, or legal affairs. Members are appointed by the Governor and serve four-year terms with half of the Council terms expiring every two years.

Aeronautics Council meetings are usually scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month starting at 10:30 a.m. Locations for these meetings are listed within the link above. For directions to any of our public airports click here. Should rescheduling be necessary, all changes will be posted here.

Legislative Day

NCAA will be hosting Legislative Day in Raleigh, NC at the Legislative Building Auditorium, 3rd floor. NCAA members and staff will attend a presentation at 1:00pm from key speakers from the House and Senate regarding the issues affecting Aviation in North Carolina. A legislative reception will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Museum of Natural Sciences.
