Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Initiative - Call Closed.
The 2010 Call for Proposals is now CLOSED for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Initiative. Twenty-nine municipalities have applied for funding in this year's cycle. "Share the Road" Safety Posters

Share the Road Specialized License Plate
The NCDOT, Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation recognizes the need to educate cyclists and motorists about their rights and responsibilities in sharing roadway space. Safe Routes to School Program
The 2nd SRTS Program call for proposals is now CLOSED. A total of $3.9 million was available through two different funding categories infrastructure and non-infrastructure. Seventy-six applications were received for the infrastructure program, and 17 applications were received for the non-infrastructure program. Point Lookout Trail Opens in McDowell County
While much of US 70 in Western North Carolina remained open to vehicular traffic, one section overlooking the Royal Gorge in McDowell County, had been closed to traffic for many year. This abandoned scenic corridor has been reopened to the public as a multi-use trail and promises to attract many visitors. Click here to read more. (1/22/08)
